The town of Nebo is located approximately 1 hour west of Mackay and has a diverse array of offerings, with significant coal deposits, prime grazing land and crop cultivation. Due to its strategic position at the cross roads of the main south-to-north track and the east-to-west track, now known as the Peak Downs Highway, Nebo has a number of historical sites within its vicinity including Lake Elphinstone, the Mount Britton Gold Mining site, and the intrepid traveller can find the site where Leichardt camped as he explored the region in 1845. Nebo is part of the Greater Whitsunday region. The Greater Whitsunday region is as diverse as it is wide, has a proven track record for growth and resilience, and is one of the true economic powerhouse regions in Queensland and Australia.
